Is St. Louis safe in 2026? Citywide numbers, empty houses, and why people still order ADT

SLMPD reported about 140 homicides in 2025, a 12-year low, with Part I crime down 16 percent versus 2024 and 28 percent versus 2023. Shootings were down about 28 percent. Those are citywide numbers. They are not a report card on your street. They are not a reason to leave a Soulard side door unlocked on a Tuesday while you sit on I-64. Home Security Systems St Louis takes the occupancy call at (314) 673-6003. SafeStreets installs. ADT monitors 24/7. This site is not ADT corporate. We do not publish neighborhood crime rates.

Police Chief Robert Tracy leads SLMPD. Mayor Cara Spencer is in office. People still order monitoring for porch packages, a tried door, and houses that sit empty after drop-off or a commute. A quieter year citywide is not 24/7. A neighbor on the porch is not an ADT operator.

Citywide is not your block

The City of St. Louis is an independent city. Citywide figures mix Downtown, Soulard, Lafayette Square, The Hill, Central West End, and north and south patrol. A quieter street is not a monitored system. A louder year is not a kit. Occupancy is the product. We quote doors, leftover keypads, cameras yes or no, and the desk for your ZIP. We do not quote a neighborhood rate we invented.

St. Louis County, St. Charles County, and Jefferson County publish their own numbers when they publish them. We still do not invent a Kirkwood rate or a Chesterfield rate. We still count the garage. We still photograph the leftover. We still ask about backup on Ameren Missouri.

What the 2025 numbers actually say

Homicides fell to about 140 in 2025, down from 151 in 2024 and 160 in 2023, and well below the 2020 peak. Part I crime was down 16 percent versus 2024. Robberies were down about 15 percent. Those figures come from SLMPD year-end material and Chief Tracy public comments, with Mayor Spencer in office. Numbers change. We cite the year. We do not turn them into a sales scare. We also do not tell you the city is finished with break-ins because a citywide line went down.

Clearance work and citywide trends do not arm your keypad. A 12-year low is not a porch camera. If a box walked off a Lafayette Square stoop last Tuesday, order for the door. If it did not, order for the hours you already leave. Weekday empty houses is that clock. Porch packages is the stoop.

Porch theft is still occupancy

Walkable streets collect boxes. Soulard, Lafayette Square, The Hill, Tower Grove South, and Downtown stoops sit empty after I-64, I-44, and downtown jobs. A doorbell lets you see a box. It does not call SLMPD. ADT watching a door contact can request help when it is appropriate after a sensor trips. Indoor sensors plus 24/7 still protect the house if you skip video. Complete+ is optional. Secure+ at $53.99/mo* still watches the door.

Kirkwood, Webster Groves, Clayton, and Chesterfield collect boxes too. The citywide homicide number does not decide those porches. The empty hours do. Arm it at leave-time. Teach deliveries so a box is not a false alarm. City ARFAM false alarms: 1st $0, 2nd $25, 3rd $50, 4th $50 plus a 30-day suspension. County Chapter 720 can bill $25 per false alarm. Teach the cancel window.

County and collar cities are not the citywide chart

Clayton, Kirkwood, Chesterfield, Florissant, St. Charles, and Arnold are not the SLMPD year-end chart. They are service areas on this line when the ZIP qualifies. Confirm the desk. Do not invent a permit dollar. Do not paste citywide homicide counts onto a Chesterfield cul-de-sac. Do not paste a Chesterfield HOA rule onto Soulard. Occupancy is still the product. The three plans do not change. Coverage is same-day or next-day when the ZIP qualifies. Kansas City, Springfield, Columbia, and Branson are not this line.

How we talk about safety on a quote call

We do not open with a crime map. We open with ZIP, house versus condo, leftover keypad, cameras yes or no, and the hours the house is alone. If you want the citywide numbers, they are on this page with the year attached. If you want the order, call (314) 673-6003. SafeStreets hangs the panel. ADT watches 24/7. Home Security Systems St Louis is the local line. St. Louis Security Pros is the lockup.

Call (314) 673-6003. There is no form. St. Louis homeowners can trust a SafeStreets security system monitored by ADT. Citywide numbers are not a patrol. The door still needs a sensor.

What we will not write

We will not invent a Soulard rate. We will not invent a north-patrol rate. We will not tell you a school district is dangerous. We will not tell you a suburb is safe because it is a suburb. We will name Chief Robert Tracy and Mayor Cara Spencer and the 2025 citywide figures. We will name ARFAM $25 and county Chapter 720. We will name Ameren Missouri. Then we will count your doors. That is the honest safety page. The order is still the 314 number.

Tried doors, extra units, and leftover pads are the local story

The local story on this line is not a homicide chart. It is a tried door on a weekday, a box on a limestone stoop, an extra unit behind a Hill lot, and a leftover keypad in a Kirkwood hall. Those are occupancy cards. They live on the security guide. They do not live on a CompStat slide. If someone tried a side door last month, say that on the call so we count that door. If an extra unit has its own key, say who keeps it. If a leftover pad is on the wall, photograph it. Those facts change the quote. A citywide percentage does not.

North patrol, central patrol, and south patrol split the 2025 homicides in SLMPD material. We still will not turn those patrol totals into a neighborhood product. South-city brick in Tower Grove South and St. Louis Hills still empties after I-55 and drop-off. North-county Florissant still empties after I-270. Downtown still empties after Washington Avenue jobs. The system is the same professionally installed ADT watch. The desk changes with the ZIP. The hours alone change with the commute. That is why people order. Not because a year-end letter said 16 percent.

How to read this page and still call

Read the year. Read the names. Then call with the ZIP. Do not wait for the next year-end letter. Do not wait for a neighbor to tell you the block is fine. Do not wait for a box to walk off the stoop for the third time. Coverage is same-day or next-day when the ZIP qualifies. SafeStreets hangs the panel. ADT monitors 24/7. Home Security Systems St Louis is the local order line at homesecuritysystemsstlouis.com. The lockup is St. Louis Security Pros. There is no form. The number is (314) 673-6003. Citywide numbers are context. The door is the order.
